The beating heart of the city: The Grote Markt in Haarlem
The Grote Markt in Haarlem is not just a square. It is a square surrounded by impressive buildings full of history and stories, right in the centre of Haarlem.
The Gothic St. Bavo Church with its spire is a real eye-catcher. As soon as you enter the church, you are flooded with light that falls through the colorful stained glass windows. The smell of old wooden benches and the echo of your footsteps on the stone floor take you back in time. Don't forget to admire the world-famous Müller organ. Mozart even played it! On the other side of the square, the old city hall of Haarlem is proudly displayed. With its graceful facades and medieval architecture, this building is also not to be missed on the Grote Markt.
