5x activities for a day out during spring break 2023

The shortest month of the year has arrived and spring break is just around the corner. Go out in the Netherlands with your partner, friends or family and enjoy. Boredom during the holidays…? No, we don't know that word here! There is a lot to do in the spring. Even on a rainy day. We have listed a number of activites for you.

Breda's backyard

Did you know that one of the oldest coniferous forests in the Netherlands is located in Breda? The Mastbos, also called the 'back garden of Breda', offers many beautiful walking and cycling routes. A wonderful activity in Breda while enjoying nature. A forest rich in trees, plants and animals. If you look carefully around you, you might spot a pine marten or deer! A part of the Mastbos is suitable for wheelchair users and people with reduced mobility; the Vlonderpad. Here you have a beautiful view over the heaths and it is even one of the most photographed places in Breda!

Step into the world of illusions

Enter the world of optical illusions! At the Museum of Illusions in Maastricht you imagine yourself in a world where nothing is what it seems... A museum where all your senses are stimulated while discovering undiscovered illusions. You can lose yourself in the Infinite room and the next moment you are upside down in the Twisted room. An experience misleading to the eye, but fun to the mind! Can you still rely on your own senses after this?

Alaaf! Celebrate carnaval under the rivers

Carnaval is also celebrated in full swing in the south during the spring break. Jostling through Mestreech (Maastricht), Kielegat (Breda) or Lampegat (Eindhoven)? Then polonaises, carnaval clothing, singing and jumping cannot be missed! Enjoy the parades of beautiful floats and join the festivities. Fun fact: if you celebrate carnaval in Eindhoven, people don't greet each other with 'Alaaf!' but with 'Salaai!'.

Get a breath of fresh air at Scheveningen beach

The Dutch go through wind and weather. A little cold won't stop us, will it? You can get a breath of fresh air on the beach at Scheveningen in The Hague. Scheveningen is perfect for a walk on the miles of beaches with shops on the boulevard. After a wonderful walk on the beach, enjoy a cup of coffee or tea at one of the many beach pavilions. And yes, there are also plenty of beach bars that are open during the winter months.

Indoor fun

Rainy days… Well, you have those too. But that shouldn't spoil the fun, because there are plenty of indoor activities for a fun day out with the family. Day full of fun with the kids? Then spend an afternoon at indoor playground Monkey Town. Play, climb and clamber like a true monkey in the countless attractions and play equipment. More in the mood for an activity that really cracks the brain? Solve puzzles together with family or friends, decipher codes and escape within a certain time frame during an afternoon of Escape Room! Join hands and try to find an escape route together.
