A few days till Dakar 2017

"It's like I'm in a kind of bubble"

After successful rallies in 2015 and 2016 Maik Willems and Rob van Pelt, or Team Bastion Hotels, are going on a great adventure again. From January 4th Dakar 2017 starts, where the route will take them through Paraguay, Bolivia and Argentina.

Maik Willems: "I only started with rallies in 2013. I watched the Dakar on television and said to myself: 'It would be stupid not to go ..." The Dakar is a fantastic adventure. It is a kind of holiday, we drive through the most beautiful landscapes that I can imagine. I enjoy every minute of the race. The wonderful canyons, wide desert, the views in the mountains. The result for me is not important, except for the starting position of the next day. That is the biggest difference with everyday life. In my company I think of long- term plans. During the Dakar I'm in a kind of bubble, in which meeting the next day is the only goal. That's all that matters. ''
